Become an Energy Auditor
|
"Energy Conservation Organization's Programs"Energy Audits will consist of both FREE and FEE based audits. FREE home energy audits will be provided for homes under 2500 sq. ft. They will consist of a room by room energy consumption analysis (Typically less than 2 hours, occupant participation encouraged). These will be carried out by our interns and the client will be provided with a written report of the findings and suggestions on how to conserve more energy and improve effeciency. They will also be presented with an excel spreadsheet with their appliance consumption values where they can perform what-if analysis and see the impact of minor changes in their usage patterns. In exchange the home owner will be asked to sign an energy conservation pledge. FEE based energy audits will involve homes over 2500 sq. ft. and commercial applications. These will be carried out by trained professional energy experts and will include home performance testing, whole house thermographic scan, blower door test, etc. We will also be able to provide power monitoring and instrument and tool sharing services under this program.
The community solarization program will involve free solar site analysis, grants to subsidize solar equipment purchases, 3rd party PPA deposit assistance and our own Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) program. Our PPA program will allow clients to install solar power on their property with no out of pocket money and a guaranteed fixed rate on electricity costs for 15 years. After the 15 year contract expires, the solar power system will provide free electricity for the life of the system. Fundraising, workshops and other events will be held to get the community interested and involved in solar power projects.
Grants under this program will provide individuals passionate about energy conservation the funds necessary to complete training and certification in any related energy specialists field. It is our experience that the high cost of training and certification in the energy specialist fields are huge road blocks for individuals without company or corporate sponsorship. Training and certifications include, but not limited to HERS raters, green point raters, thermography, weatherization and efficiency, and LEEDS. We ask that each participant in this program also sign a volunteer pledge to help train interns and provide some community service.
Education grants will be used provide local schools, community colleges and other organizations with funds to add full or part time classes or workshops to their current curriculums. These classes should include topics on energy conservation, efficiency or renewable energy sources. Funds are also available for books and learning aids.
This program will provide grants to select low income households who have participated in one of our energy audits or home performance tests the funds necessary to implement the changes to improve the efficiency of their home. Bids will be taken from local contractors to do the necessary repairs. Full or partial project costs will be covered under the grant as determined in advance by a review committee or the board of directors. Replacing old appliances with new Energy Star appliances along with lighting upgrades are also covered under this program.
